IL RESPIRO In the heart of typical Marche rolling country side, a short hop into an exquisite hilltop town Il Respiro is a gracious, old country house with a private pool and large s garden offering comfortable, stylish accommodation for up to 12 in a completely private and tranquil location with breathtaking scenery surrounded by fields of sunflowers and abundant vines. The house has large, well appointed rooms comfortably furnished and with a sense of ease and relaxation inside and out. Monte San Martino is a short drive away or a 25 minute walk , a splendid, totally unspoilt medieval hill top town. The area is full of cultural treasures to explore, wonderful country side and one hour from the coast. The graceful charm and relaxed atmosphere of Il Respiro along with absolute tranquility and privacy makes for a perfect Italian family holiday. The house has undergone substantial improvements in 2010 and is newly decorated and furnished with style and comfort keeping true to the gracious charm of the house. This is a wonderful house in which to unwind and relax into the gentle pace of rural Italian life. The coast is less than one hours drive however if you feel the need to venture out . There are good shops 8 kms from the house and a small shop in the village which is a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk along a quiet road which has stunning views . HOUSE LAYOUT An imposing front door leads into a graceful hallway with a staircase leading to a suite of two bedrooms, a sitting room and bathroom. One double bedroom and one twin bedded room. The reception area also lends itself as a reading room and leads into a spacious, light ,sitting room with a large open fire, sofas, piano, chairs. Double Glass doors lead onto the terrace which stretches the entire front of the house. A cloakroom is under the main staircase with a WC and Sink. The dining room leads onto the kitchen. The dining room can seat 12 has an open fireplace . It also has Glass doors leading onto the terrace. The fitted kitchen has all modern appliances on offer, is a good basic no frills large country kitchen, well equipped with crockery, cutlery and glasses. The is a table with chairs for childrens meals, a dishwasher, oven and gas hob, sink and plenty of work surface and fitted cupboards. There is a utility room off the kitchen with a washing machine, ironing board and sink. A door leads from the kitchen dining area with tables and chairs and shade for outside daytime dining. The main stairs lead to two double rooms and 2 twin bedded rooms and two bathrooms both have a bath, over head shower, WC and wash hand basin. One twin bedded room leads onto a large balcony with lovely views of the valleys around the around. The bedrooms all have wardrobes and chests of drawers, each room has shutters , high ceilings and terracotta floors, it remains comfortable in the hot summer months being so airy, light and spacious. It is a safe environment for young children. A sitting room with a large flat screen TV is available on the first floor above the library area. The house can sleep 12 in complete comfort but is equally comfortable for smaller groups of up to 8. There is a cot and play pen available for any babies that come and stay who are very welcome at Il Respiro. Outside: Long private drive, ample parking. Loggia with shade, tables, chairs. Terrace along front of the house with sun loungers and umbrella. Path to gardens and grassed pool terrace. Pool rectangular, 12 x 5 m, ship steps, deep and shallow ends. 10 hectares of land, lovely walks and views, mature, well tended grounds, vineyard, chapel in grounds. Flat safe areas for children. the pool is a senible distance from the pool and the path to it only a slight decline ensuring it is accessible. The house and garden area is all suitable for young children or people with mobility problems. The Village The closest medieval village is a stunning , unspoilt example of a walled medieval hill town. A beautifully preserved and fully inhabited village with some priceless art treasures in one of the 4 churches . The house is 2 minutes stroll into the piazza - there is a small , well stocked mini mart which sells meat, vegetable, sundries, wine etc. There is a chemist very close by. A bank with an ATM which accepts visa and foreign cards is almost opposite. There are 3 bars and one excellent restaurant below the bar centrale in the beautiful, open piazza. In summer make sure you enjoy a candlelit dinner under the portico of the bar overlooking this wonderful piazza. The food is typically Marchigianan and absolutely delicious - accompanied by one of the many superb Marche wines. See our wine section for more details. Tennis players can hire the court in the village which possibly has the most dramatic view of any tennis court in the world. Not far away - 15 minutes drive takes you to several lovely hill towns all with excellent restaurants, sophisticated bars or very typical Italian day to day bars, gorgeous architecture, resplendent views, markets, shops, festas and concerts. The coast is no more than 50 minutes drive with clean white beaches, night life, cafe life and countless fish restaurants. See our Annual Restaurant guide which will be in the house.
