Forty minutes into the mountains there is excellent day trekking, para gliding, picnicking and swimming on offer along with more hill towns with some
excellent restaurants serving typical mountain food with earthy ingredients such as black truffle and porcini mushrooms.
The coast is one hours drive, the closest beach is Porto San Giorgio on the Adriatic coast. This area of coastline has clean, white sand and
pink pebble beaches with safe beach awards and safe, supervised swimming. There is a huge choice of fish and seafood restaurants to choose
from. The drive is easy and daily visits to the coast are a popular option.

and is well worth the effort as the village stands 800 meters above sea level and the views to the sea are breathtaking. To drive
takes 10 minutes.
There are several such towns and villages to explore. Less than an hour is the grand old provincial capital Ascoli Piceno with
beautiful piazzas, Palazzi and a fascinating history.It also has elegant boutiques and top notch restaurants and a bar in the central
piazza which competes with any of the famous, well visited establishments in Rome or Bologna.
The closest airports are Ancona 1 hour 20 mins and Pescara 1 hour and 45 mins.
Rome is a 3 hour 30 minute plus drive and is a viable option if staying a week or longer.
